His breakthrough as singer came in 2013 with two Bollywood songs-the gritty Hindi rock song “Zinda” from sports biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the folksy, grandiose track “Malang” alongside Shilpa Rao from action flick Dhoom 3.Before focusing on his singing career, Mahadevan served as composer for Marathi film Swapna Tujhe Ni Majhe in 2012 and was enlisted as a musician for the movie adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children in 2013.In his teens, Mahadevan appeared on the title track from Bollywood caper Bunty Aur Babli in 2005, singing loud and clear alongside veterans such as Sukhwinder Singh, Jaspinder Narula and his own father.The son of veteran singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan, Siddharth trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, but also grew up listening to everything from ghazals to hip-hop and Latin music.Singer and composer Siddharth Mahadevan leads in emphatic rock and electro-pop anthems for films and offers a refreshing take on India’s devotional music.
